The only one that came close to my Yamaha was the Antiqua. The Selmers were on par with the Buffet-Cramons.Hi guys, I have a Buescher alto saxophone in possession and I have absolutely no concrete information on this beauty. The serial number is 84xxx and right under it is a fading "20A." Here are some pics. The pads are old and unaligned, therefore the sax isn't in proper playing condition. I dislike the Alto, I have a SX90, and did not care at all for the Soprano's. The 62 can be pretty bright depending on your disposition and the era of the sax. The 82Z is a darker sound than the 62 and blows a lot freer than the SX90. All 3 are good, usable saxes and solid for learning on. The reason is simple. When you play the horn it resonates in your head, therefore you'll have to turn up a bit to hear the mix above the natural resonation. These things aren't cheap. I like the silver plated version of the Yamaha 875EX soprano, however, still found the Yani 991 soprano to have a fuller richer sound and I've been a soprano player for over 30 years. I strongly believe Yanagisawa still leads the pack when it comes to sopranos. Seriously they're both great horns..
